Humanscale adds to its OfficeIQ at CES in Las Vegas

When Chris Gibson and the rest of the Humanscale team went to the massive Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last year, he wasn't sure how the tech industry would react to OfficeIQ, the company's connected workplace system designed to help employees use the healthful office products they are given and show companies that it does make sense to spend more for a healthy and happy workforce. This year the industry is taking notice.

Design Standouts From NeoCon East 2015

Design Standouts From NeoCon East 2015

The younger sister to NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago, NeoCon East swept through the City of Brotherly Love last week. This marked the first time the event was held in Philadelphia (previously, the show was hosted in Baltimore), but that didn’t deter architects and designers from stopping in to see the latest in contract furnishings and finishes. On the contrary, early numbers indicate that attendance this year was up by 15 percent from a total of nearly 7,500 attendees in 2014. If you didn’t make it to NeoCon East 2015, take a look at our picks of the show standouts that belong in your library.

NEOCON EAST 2015 A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

NEOCON EAST 2015 A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

NeoCon East 2015 received rave reviews in its inaugural year in Philadelphia. After twelve years in Baltimore, the move north was very well received. Attendance was up 15% from the previous year with industry professionals from the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and NYC regions flocking to the Pennsylvania Convention Center to see the 250+ leading companies and ready to spec products, as well as access timely programming and educational offerings.

NeoCon East Finds a New Home

NeoCon East Finds a New Home

In the contract furniture industry, NeoCon casts a large shadow over the annual trade show line-up. Over the years the importance of that June date in Chicago has grown to the point that it consumes a huge share of the marketing budgets of most manufacturers. In companies all across the industry, new product development is centered on NeoCon. Advertising dollars are clustered. Money for showroom updates and trade show exhibits seem to evaporate from corporate coffers during the May-June period. No matter how big or how good NeoCon in Chicago gets, there is still a need for regional trade shows. Not everyone who is interested in seeing first hand what’s new, can travel to Chicago to see it. Old timers like me long for the good old days of West Week in LA in the spring, Neocon (in those days, it didn’t have the capital “C” in the middle) in …

IIDA Reaches Agreement With Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association

IIDA Reaches Agreement With Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association (FEDA) recently reached an agreement that will allow both organizations to better advocate for legislation on behalf of their respective members and industries. The memorandum of understanding, signed in August 2015, states that FEDA has no intention of working against legislation introduced by IIDA or an Interior Design Legislative Coalition as long as it does not impact or prevent foodservice designers or foodservice equipment dealers from practicing to the fullest extent in the design of professional foodservice kitchen/facilities.
