2016 Chicago's Coolest Offices

2016 WINNER - BEST OFFICE: Music is the theme for the new Pandora office in Prudential Plaza—that should come as no surprise. However, the designers behind the 33,000-square-foot office incorporated an unexpected twist: a 1980s theme built around the movies and soundtracks of John Hughes, whose beloved teen-centered films “The Breakfast Club” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” are set in Chicago’s suburbs.

2016 brought us plenty of office design trends to love: residential elements such as Oriental rugs; leasing programs that bring in rotating collections of high-end art; and a move toward softer color palettes with accents of blush and gold. But while design trends change year to year, some values always ring true: attractiveness, originality and functionality. Our guest judges kept those values top of mind when they scored this year's best entries. To qualify, an office had to have opened, expanded or been remodeled after July 1, 2015.
