Steelcase, the world’s largest maker of office furniture, found that one in three workers are disengaged in the office and 37 percent of those are highly disengaged. It is an office epidemic that is sapping productivity and happiness in the office, according to the report, “Engagement and the Global Workplace.”
It is a wide-ranging study that polled 12,480 participants in 17 countries about engagement in the office — the amount workers are “connected” and put forth effort in the workplace. When workers are disengaged, it costs companies money, slows projects, drains resources and undermines company goals, as well as the efforts of their engaged colleagues.
