QuickStand Lite™, a new sit/stand solution from ergonomic pioneer Humanscale, was announced as a winner of the acclaimed Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ Award for top quality and groundbreaking design in the Product category. Since 1955, the Red Dot Product Design Award has been recognized internationally as a seal of quality, distinguishing only the most exceptional products. Each year, the competition receives thousands of quality submissions. This year, QuickStand Lite was selected out of a record 5,214 entries from 57 nations. Assessed by a jury of 41 renowned specialists, including designers, design professors, and journalists, winning entries stood out for their functionality, degree of innovation, formal quality, ecological compatibility and other criteria.
This award comes two short months after the introduction of QuickStand Lite to the market, illustrating how the revolutionary new development in height-adjustable workstations is quickly making an impact on the industry. Equipped with an innovative counterbalance mechanism for easy transition between postures, it features an adjustable keyboard and monitor arm platform that provides stability while typing. Its cable-management system keeps work surfaces clean and uncluttered. Easily affixed to existing workstations, QuickStand Lite moves with the user as they work throughout the day, creating a truly active workspace.
Designed and developed in New York City by Humanscale’s Design Studio, QuickStand Lite was created by Ross Velazquez, Industrial Designer II and Rajiv Katwala, Design Engineer IV, under the direction of Brad Augustine, Director of Design Engineering and Mesve Vardar, Design Director.
“The Humanscale Design Studio was inspired to create a sit-to-stand workstation that would encourage collaboration and complement any office environment, especially hot-desking spaces,” says Mesve Vardar, Design Director. “The result is a height-adjustable tool that encourages healthy movement throughout the day and offers ergonomic comfort for each unique user — all while the tool’s complex engineering system is hidden beneath a clean and minimal aesthetic. We are honored that Red Dot has recognized this innovative design and is including us among their distinguished lineage.”
This award marks Humanscale’s fifth Red Dot win. Previous years’ winners include the Diffrient World task chair (Best of the Best, 2010), Horizon task light (Winner, 2011), the T7 medical technology cart (Winner, 2013) and Humanscale’s Trea chair (Best of the Best, 2015) — a Todd Bracher design.
Red Dot Product Award winners are featured at the Red Dot Design Museum and in the Red Dot yearbook. On July 4, 2016, recipients of this year’s Red Dot Awards will celebrate at an awards ceremony at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany.
