Texas Holds Largest U.S. Hotel Development Pipeline

Lodging Econometrics’ latest United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report reveals that Texas is the U.S. state with the largest hotel development pipeline. The Lone Star state currently boasts 673 projects and 72,747 guestrooms in development. With a combined 369 projects and 44,459 guestrooms in the works, Houston, Dallas, and Austin account for 55 percent of the state’s total hotel development. The franchise company with the most projects in the Texas pipeline is InterContinental Hotels Group, with 141 projects and 14,542 rooms; Hilton and Marriott come in second and third, respectively, with a combined 260 projects and 29,886 guestrooms. California has the nation’s second largest pipeline, with 413 projects and 62,067 guestrooms.
