U.S. Leads Global Growth for Hospitality Development

Lodging Econometrics’ (LE) latest Global Construction Pipeline Trend Report shows the current worldwide pipeline at its highest levels ever recorded by LE with 11,196 projects and 1.9 million rooms. Overall, the global pipeline has increased 5 percent year-over-year by projects and 6 percent by rooms. Leading the international growth is the U.S., which currently holds 40 percent of the world’s projects and 29 percent of rooms. 

5,277 projects and 990,669 rooms are currently under construction across the globe, a 1 percent decrease for projects and a 1 percent increase for rooms. Within the next 12 months, construction is expected to begin on 3,214 projects and 466,129 rooms, up 24 and 22 percent, respectively. Projects in the early planning stages are down 1 percent with 2,705 while rooms are up 3 percent with 462,016.
