Kontor, the houzz type site for commercial interiors, announced it is closing. Customers included Knoll.
The following letter was received from the company:
I’m writing today with an important update about the Kontor platform.
We founded Kontor in 2014 with a singular vision: making great commercial interior design more accessible for clients, architects, designers and everyone else involved in the ecosystem. Through our partnerships with firms and brands, we built an active community of professionals with a shared appreciation for innovative workplace design. Our dedicated user base relied on our robust image database and unique collaboration tools to find and document inspiration for countless workplace projects around the world.
Over the past two years, we’ve been approached numerous times by customers who sought a deeper level of engagement with the platform. This feedback helped us realize that there is an opportunity to participate in the design process more holistically. While our commitment to our initial vision remains unchanged, we believe we’ve found an alternative path that will enable us to provide a more impactful solution for the industry.
Our excitement for this new opportunity has led us to make a very difficult decision. We will be sunsetting the Kontor website on September 23rd, and refunding all payments made by our Brand partners within the next 30 days.
We are very proud of the product, team and relationships we have built over the past two years and humbly acknowledge that we could never have come so far so fast without your support.
Rest assured that the Kontor team isn’t going anywhere – we’ll be rolling out a new product in the coming months, and look forward to sharing more details soon.
Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly or via support@kontor.com.
