West Elm has named contract industry veteran Cheryl Carpenter as vice president of West Elm Workspace.
Carpenter comes to the company from Herman Miller, where she worked as director of the seating category, a role in which she led the development and implementation of the strategy for the category. Before that, she was director of marketing for Herman Miller’s Healthcare business, a role in which she carried out the company’s marketing strategy for that category.
Before joining Herman Miller in 2011, Carpenter had worked for more than 12 years at Steelcase Inc., where she held key product development, marketing and sales roles.
Catherine Schwartz, senior vice president of West Elm Workspace, said she is pleased to have Carpenter join the contract team.
“Cheryl’s experience in product development, branding and sales brings a breadth of industry knowledge to the brand, and will further strengthen our position as an innovator in modern workplace solutions,” she said.
West Elm, a brand of Top 100 retailer Williams-Sonoma, launched its West Elm Workspace division in 2015 in partnership with Inscape, an award-winning designer and manufacturer of office furniture. Today, the division features more than 2,000 contract-grade products, accessories and office solutions.
