Just In: Vitra's New Pacific Chair Winner in Core77 Design Awards 2017

Barber & Osgerby have continued their collaboration with Vitra who tasked the designers with the objective of moving the language of office furniture away from the machine to be calm. The first office chair from Barber & Osgerby followed the guiding principle of 'full performance, quiet design', capturing their signature design precision, improving ergonomic comfort, whilst combining bold colours with straightforward linear shapes.

Barber & Osgerby continued their collaboration with Vitra and launched the Pacific Chair at Orgatec 2016. The Pacific Chair is a state-of-the-art office task chair with a new synchronised and specifically developed mechanism. The chair provides a user-friendly experience, with intuitive controls and no complex adjustments. It has an unobtrusive and timeless aesthetic thanks to the simple graphical line of the back. The calm design integrates well with surrounding architecture and interiors. It moves away from the tradition of office furniture as machine and creates a calmer experience for the user.

The first office chair from the designers, the Pacific Chair followed the guiding principle of 'full performance, quiet design'. The Pacific chair features the first ever height-adjustable back incorporated into the arm, providing ergonomic comfort for a high range of human percentiles. The cantilevered armrest encourages movement, allowing users to sit sideways. The synchronised mechanism automatically responds to the weight of the respective user, offering an immediate sense of personalised comfort. Further fine adjustments can be carried out easily thanks to the concealed but intuitively positioned operating elements. The padded backrest comes in three different heights; one height is also available with a mesh cover. Components are colour-coordinated in light or dark versions, available with matching functional armrests or elegant aluminium arm supports. The chair will be used globally and is a cross over product, suitable for both business and domestic use.
