SurfaceWorks, a manufacturer of innovative tables for the contract furniture industry, plans to open a second manufacturing location in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. This 42,000-square-foot facility will enhance the company’s current capabilities and support its continued growth in the contract furniture market. The new site also is expected to add 20 new jobs to the community.
The expansion comes on the heels of the acquisition announcement of six izzy+ products – Penny, Clara, Dewey, Nemo, Eli and Audrey – which will be added to the SurfaceWorks collection. This acquisition opens a new door for the previously table-based company. In addition to tables, SurfaceWorks will be introducing Nemo Trellis, a space-defining architectural solution, and Audrey, a modular storage collection. All of the products will be produced in the new facility and will be delivered with the same consistent service reliability and product quality that the SurfaceWorks brand is known for.
In line with its strategy to continue market leadership as the premier provider of contract-grade tables, this month, the company will begin production and distribution of the first of the six products – Penny. Introduced in 2010 under the izzy+ brand, Penny, is a highly flexible, personal table that’s perfect for mobile workers touching down for impromptu meetings or catching up on email on the fly.
This multi-purpose table supports today’s technology, holds up to 11 pounds of weight, comes with casters or glides, and is available in both fixed and adjustable height options. Penny’s finishes include 13 urethane and 18 edgeband colors that pair with up to 26 standard laminates. Specifiers can also choose from rectangular or oval top shapes.
Stay tuned for more information as the transition to launch the remaining five products unfolds. Chris Gnadt, General Manager of SurfaceWorks commented on the strong momentum of the company, saying “The SurfaceWorks journey over the last 16 months has included a rebranding, new sales tools, a permanent showroom in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, an excellent network of independent reps, six new izzy+ products and an awesome new manufacturing facility. It’s an exciting time in our company’s history and we’re excited to continue to grow as we add more jobs to the local economy.”
