In 2018, WeWork arrived in eight more countries and 34 more cities and added 200 locations, which means it’s time to update your stats on the world’s largest co-working juggernaut.
WeWork, founded in 2010, is now the largest private occupier of office space in London, Manhattan, and Washington DC. As of December 2018 it has:
400,000 members
400 locations in 99 cities and 26 countries
30% of the Fortune 500 on its membership list
200 refugee hires, under a refugee program that expanded this year from the US and UK to Brazil and Columbia
a plan to become carbon-neutral by 2023
The company also says it has helped 250 US military veterans start businesses through its Veterans in Residence program and incubated 1,000 startups through its WeWork Labs division.
Meanwhile, Meetup, the networking business that WeWork acquiredin 2017, hosted 4 million events this past year, and the Flatiron School, the company’s coding-bootcamp program, expanded to four more cities.
In sheer numbers though, it’s hard to get more mind-boggling than WeWork’s financing stats. It attracted $4 billion in fresh capital in 2018, according to Crunchbase, bringing the company’s total funding to $12.1 billion.
