Holland-based Trendway Corporation has been named the 20-18 SBA Michigan Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.
Recipients of the award must be owned by a veteran, have 500 or fewer employees -- Trendway, which produces office furniture, employs about 300 -- demonstrate long-term business success, and promoted jobs for members of the military.
Trendway CEO Don Heeringa, a U.S. Army vet, bought Trendway 45 years ago when the company was just five years old. He said the anniversaries are being celebrated every month this year in a community friendly way.
"I'm so proud of the people who've been with the comapny for many, many years," he said describing a photo of a crowd of employees who've been with Trendway for 30 years or more. "They deserve the award as much as I do."
U.S. Veterans Magazine recently named Trendway the top veteran-owned business of 2018.
