Tangram Interiors Facility Nominated for Architecture/Design in 2018 Beautiful Bakersfield Awards Program

Tangram Interiors, a curator of highly creative commercial interior environments and workspaces, has been nominated for the 2018 Beautiful Bakersfield Awards sponsored by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. The nomination, in the Architecture/Design category, recognizes the firm’s recently opened facility in that city.

The Tangram office, showroom and warehouse was created to enhance service to the Central Valley and its growing business environment. It is designed to demonstrate the future of the modern workplace for empowering people to work, learn and heal by showcasing the latest trends in commercial, education and healthcare environments. Partners on the project were Skarphol Associates of Bakersfield and architectural firm MOZU.

The building comprises 11,700 sq. ft. divided into two sections, 3,700 sq. ft of workspace and 8,000 sq. ft. of warehouse to provide logistical capabilities to local Tangram clients. The workspace features an open office plan with a large work cafe, custom Bakersfield-inspired mural, numerous collaborative and concentrated work areas, a full classroom and a doctor’s office. Highlighting the space is a central, floating conference room clad in glass, demountable Muraflex walls and featuring the newest technology from Microsoft, the Surface Hub.

“Our goal was to provide a thought-provoking space that showcases stimulating concepts that challenge the norm,” said Tangram Interiors CEO Joe Lozowski. “We wanted it to be almost controversial at first blush to defy comfort zones and show that it’s possible to transform the work environment of any organization. We invite the community to visit our facility as a destination where they can learn, explore and inspire change.”

The annual Beautiful Bakersfield Awards program honors the people, places, businesses and groups that have contributed to the quality of life of the greater Bakersfield area. All nominees with be showcased, along with the award winners, at a gala on June 2, 2018, at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.

In addition to its core furniture offering, Tangram Interiors operates five business units for a complete approach to workplace design and installation: flooring, architecture walls, custom furniture, move management and technology. The Tangram Studio division is focused on custom and co-designed workplaces, while Tangram Technology creates unified ecosystems incorporating audiovisual, acoustics, lighting and sound masking. This range of services allows for a top-to-bottom approach that places each aspect of office planning, design and installation under careful consideration to maximize utility and comfort for the people who make organizations run.
