National Ergonomics Conference & ErgoExpo Will Highlight Workplace Wellness Approaches to Reduce Employee Injury

The National Ergonomics Conference & ErgoExpo is a reliable source of knowledge for ergonomic professionals, helping them find the best solutions to further their ergonomics, safety and wellness goals. ErgoExpo, to be held August 21 - 24, 2018 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, will feature more than a dozen sessions and workshops showcasing why wellness programs are important, how to implement them, and the physical and monetary results they yield.

The Occupational Health & Safety article Workplace Wellness: The Role of Ergonomics and Movement states, “The stressors of the office workplace, especially prolonged sitting at a poorly designed workstation, can contribute to a leading cause of injury for employees: musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which include carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back and neck dysfunction, and tendinitis.”

ErgoExpo attendees will learn how to combat these stressors and build an effective and safe ergonomics program or maximize an existing one, on any budget, in any industry.

The session The Smart Workstation: Disability, Return to Work and the Future of Productivity will give attendees real case study results about employees who exhausted all accommodation options but were able to improve working hours with new workstations. Another wellness-focused session, Leveraging Ergonomics to Drive Safety Performance in Field Service Environments, will explain how to utilize ergonomic strategies to improve worker health and safety as well as help attendees recognize the value of integrating both ergonomic and human factor strategies into safety and injury prevention efforts. The program also provides ways to positively impact employee outcomes with increased health, productivity and morale, while also lowering costs, reducing injuries and eliminating medication use in the session Ergonomics' Role in a Total Worker Health Approach to Employee Health, Safety and Wellness.

ErgoExpo sessions and workshop topics are applicable to professionals in all industries with the titles of ergonomist, design engineer, risk manager, safety professional and many others. Attendees will hear from industry thought leaders including Edie Adams, Principal Ergonomist of Microsoft;Jainaba Faye, Industrial Engineer of Cargill; Katie McCabe, Ergonomic Analyst of Mayo Clinic Health Systems for Occupational Health; and more than 70 other speakers.

“ErgoExpo offers attendees the opportunity to gather new insights from top in the field presenters who will focus on the past, present and future of implementing effective wellness programs,” said Dr. Alan Hedge, ErgoExpo Conference Chair, “Safety and wellness is a top priority for professionals in all industries and this conference will give a well-rounded view from inception to completion of various approaches.”
