Brad Powell, co-founder of Officeinsight, an industry trade publication focused on design, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was 76. His death was reported in OfficeInsight.
Brad Powell was born in 1941 and grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin. He studied at the University of Wisconsin where he also played the trumpet in the University of Wisconsin Marching Band. Following graduation, he spent three years as a Lieutenant in the Army before enrolling in the Law School of Boston College where he received his law degree in 1972.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Addie Reid Powell, their son Adam Reid Powell, his wife Renee, and three grandchildren Kaden, Silas and Willow.
In 1989, Powell decided to leave the law profession behind and in 1993 joined George Kordaris, a friend from the commercial furniture world, as a partner in a start-up publishing enterprise – and thus was born officeinsight. Kordaris left the publication in 1995.
In 2014, Powell decided to retire, and sold officeinsight but continued to serve as Publisher Emeritus and often contributed feature articles on topics to which he was devoted.
