Fritz Hansen announced their sponsorship of On the Edge of the World: Masterworks by Laurits Andersen Ring from SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark, a traveling exhibition that will start at the National Nordic Museum in Seattle followed by the Bruce Museum in Connecticut starting February 1, 2020. The exhibition features 25 by 19th century Danish painter, Laurits Andersen who was among the most significant figures within the Danish and Nordic art world. Guests will be welcomed by a selection of carefully curated products from Fritz Hansen as they enter the building and walk through the halls of the museum. All of the furniture will be available for use to all patrons of the museum.
As a long-time supporter of the arts, Fritz Hansen is honored to be working with the National Gallery of Denmark, a major institution and the country’s largest art museum. When patrons enter the National Nordic museum, they will be surrounded by iconic designs including the classically sculptured Egg™ and Swan™ chairs by renowned architect, Arne Jacobsen, the PK22™ lounge chair by Poul Kjærholm and the relaunched Planner™ coffee table, a minimalist marble design by the legendary Paul McCobb, among others.
The official opening of the exhibition at the National Nordic Museum welcomed the Ambassador of Denmark, Lone Dencker Wisborg; The National Gallery of Denmark Director, Mikkel Bogh; and the Exhibition Curator, Peter Norgaard Larsen. The exhibition will be open to the public until Thursday, January 19, 2020.
