Office furniture maker OFS Brands plans to add a new production line — and more than quadruple its workforce — at a Kentucky factory.
Gov. Matt Bevin’s office announced last week that OFS Brands Holding anticipates adding 105 jobs at its facility in Leitchfield, Kentucky, about an hour southwest of Louisville, Kentucky.
The company produces furniture for offices, hospitals, hotels, and schools. The expected $1 million investment will also include new equipment and facility upgrades, and will allow OFS to add two new products to its lineup and double the plant’s overall output.
In discussing the decision to expand, officials cited rising demand for “performance seating” — or ergonomic, mechanically operated chairs.
The Leitchfield plant currently employs 33 workers. OFS is headquartered in southern Indiana and also operates factories in North Carolina and California.
“We feel that this location provides our best opportunity to continue to provide the best products to our customers,” OFS President and CEO Hank Menke said in a statement.
Kentucky officials also announced that the state’s economic development finance agency approved up to $1 million in tax incentives for the project if the company meets hiring and investment goals. In addition, OFS is eligible for no-cost and reduced-cost recruitment, training, and job-placement services.
