Steelcase was hit by a cyber attack on Oct. 22 and is working to restore the affected systems and return to “normal levels of operation,” the company said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Steelcase said the attack targeted its information technology systems, and that it “promptly implemented a series of containment measures to address this situation including temporarily shutting down the affected systems and related operations.”
“The Company is actively engaged in restoring the affected systems and returning to normal levels of operations,” Steelcase said in the Oct. 26 SEC filing.
“At this time, the Company is not aware of any data loss from its systems or any other loss of assets as a result of this attack. Although cyberattacks can be unpredictable, the Company does not currently expect this incident will have a material impact on its business operations or its financial results.”
Steelcase spokesperson Katie Woodruff declined to comment further on the cyberattack.
The global company has 12,700 employees and over 800 dealers. In West Michigan, Steelcase has about 1,600 office workers and 1,800 factory workers, the company said last month.
