Framery announced that the company has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which includes some of the world’s biggest greenhouse gas emitters, corporations, and recognized brands. By joining, Framery is part of the organization’s most recent milestone––hitting 1,000 companies in total that are committed to the science-based targets initiative.
Science-based targets are emission reduction goals that are strategically aligned with what the latest climate science says is needed in order to meet the goals of the historic Paris Agreement––to limit global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C. These targets also help recognize and accomplish what is needed to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. The organization as a whole seeks to show companies how quickly and at what quantity they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in order to be consistent with keeping warming below dangerous levels.
Since its founding, Framery has been in pursuit of sustainable design practices and has been committed to achieving greater levels of corporate responsibility. Framery has developed in-depth initiatives to ensure that their manufacturing process is as sustainable as it can be. The Science Based Targets Initiative gives Framery another significant opportunity to accomplish the company’s larger sustainability goals.
“The transition to a zero-carbon economy is quickly progressing globally and we at Framery are proud to be part of a movement so critical to the wellbeing of the world and the generations to come,” says Framery’s Founder and CEO Samu Hällfors. “Our company is motivated to part of this initiative alongside hundreds of corporations worldwide who are preparing for the transition by setting emissions reduction targets that are rightfully grounded in climate science.”
The latest science has made it clear that more needs to be done and at a faster pace in order to avoid the negative impacts of climate change and to secure a sustainable economy. The next few years are critical, and companies have a vital role to play in helping achieve transformation at the pace and scale that is needed.
