How to Use Pattern in Office Design

We all know the power of a pop of color in workplace design, but have you considered using a pop of pattern in the same way? Whether you want to make a strong statement or give a subtle nod to a company’s personality, using pattern in the office can have a compelling effect.

That’s because people love patterns. The eye is naturally drawn to repeating lines, dots, and swirls in the world around us. By recognizing patterns in nature, architecture and everyday objects, our minds construct a sense of order and coherence. For people in the workplace, this reduces stress levels and clears space for creativity.

The following are three ways the Coalesse Pattern program helps designers apply pattern in the contemporary office.

Pattern Integrated into Fabrics

In collaboration with Designtex, Coalesse developed a collection of seven fabrics that imitate patterns found in the natural world. Each pattern is available in multiple colorways reflecting the Coalesse color palette. Though they were created with Coalesse products in mind, these fabrics can be applied to any furniture. Their appealing textures also make them great layering features in monochromatic color schemes.

Pattern Applied to the LessThanFive Chair

The Coalesse Customizer is an easy-to-use online tool that lets designers visualize patterns applied to the seat and back of our carbon fiber LessThanFive Chair. Choose from nine Coalesse patterns, all inspired by nature, or upload a pattern of your own.

Pattern Applied to Glass

The Coalesse Customizer tool also lets users introduce pattern to one-piece glass-top tables from the following lines: Potrero415 Table, SW_1 Conference Table and SW_1 Occasional Table. The process is easy:

  • Select the table shape, height and size

  • Choose from one of three preset Coalesse patterns and scale the artwork

  • Select a foreground color and a background color from our 12 preset options

  • Save and share your design, or start an order (the Coalesse Concierge team will follow up with you)
