The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced its annual signature programming to be held at The WELL Conference, March 29-April 1, 2020 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The inaugural conference is presented in partnership with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and Emerald Expositions. These events will complement WELL’s broad slate of health, wellness and community-focused content and will shine a spotlight on key Society content. By bringing some of its best known programs -- Chapter Leadership Conference, State of the Society Address, induction of Fellows, Ones to Watch, Outcome of Design Awards, and National Awards – to The WELL Conference, ASID is demonstrating its commitment to an annual gathering of the design community invested in the power of design to impact lives.
“At ASID, we passionately share the fact that thoughtful design supports well-being,” states Randy W. Fiser, Hon. FASID, CEO, ASID. “The WELL Conference provides an important opportunity to celebrate those who enhance lives every day, everywhere through their work. As a first-of-its-kind event, the conference also engages a broader community through compelling content and opportunities to connect around creating places and spaces where people thrive.”
The WELL Conference will offer a richly immersive health-centric and mentally stimulating experience, with program sessions that expand the boundaries of learning. Topics include: design solutions that improve health outcomes in any setting; workplace policies that support higher employee engagement; and leadership skills training that will help attendees advocate successfully for putting people at the center of decision-making. The ASID signature programs, designed to celebrate the people and projects leading the charge to spread its “design impacts lives” mission, will provide additional opportunities for engagement and conversation throughout the event.
The Society events to be held in conjunction with The WELL Conference are:
ASID Chapter Leadership Conference, March 28-30: The ASID Chapter Leadership Conference will help ASID leaders forge strong working relationships, develop an understanding of ASID governance, and fine tune their professional and personal leadership skills. Attendees will leave inspired and ready to fulfill their leadership charge to commit to the vision; sell the mission; build the community; and influence the industry.
ASID Fellows and Ones to Watch Awards Luncheon, March 29, 11:30 a.m. MT: There are those in the interior design profession whose pursuit of excellence has elevated them to a highly-respected pinnacle in the industry, and those who have demonstrated their potential, through continued growth, to reach that pinnacle in the future. This event will honor the newly inducted 2020 ASID Fellows who are transforming the industry, and the Ones to Watch Award Winners and Scholars, the next generation of up-and-coming designers championing diversity of thought, background, and ethnicity.
State of Society Address, March 29, 1 p.m. MT: Randy W. Fiser, Hon. FASID, CEO, ASID; Jennifer Kolstad, ASID, Assoc. AIA, chair, ASID National Board of Directors; and Kerrie Kelly, FASID, NKBA, CAPS, chair-elect, ASID National Board of Directors, will offer the annual exploration of the Society’s impact on the design industry and the world, including a vision for the future of the organization and design community.
Spotlight: Illuminating Great Design, March 29, 7:30 p.m. MT: This evening will celebrate the inspirational design professionals and outstanding design projects leading the movement toward outcome-based design excellence, sustainability, and well-being. ASID will present the 2020 ASID National Awards in four categories: Designer of Distinction, Design for Humanity, Design Innovation, and the Nancy Vincent McClelland Merit award. It will also announce the honorees of the 2020 ASID Outcome of Design Awards, highlighting those whose forward-thinking projects measure the impact of design on the human experience through sustainable, humancentric, and socially-responsible design solutions.
The Soirée, Presented by Cosentino, March 29, 10 p.m. MT: ASID will host a high-energy party in honor of the Conference’s opening night and the 2020 ASID National Award winners and 2020 ASID Outcome of Design winners. Meet and socialize with attendees from across the nation who represent a diverse mix of career pathways and dedication to the movement toward health and well-being.
Innovate · Advocate · Elevate: A Toast to Public Policy, March 30, 6 p.m. MT: ASID believes that to raise design policy concerns to the attention of state and federal legislators, the industry must engage in thoughtful deliberation, have a long-term strategic vision, and ensure active participation from a variety of stakeholders. ASID Government and Public Affairs and national thought leaders from various sectors and backgrounds focus on the built environment and building occupants through the lens of government policy. The event will benefit the ASID Advocate by Design (AxD) Fund, a political education fund created to educate the public and policymakers on the impact of design work and the policy issues important to practitioners and industry stakeholders.
