Kimball International will shut down its David Edward manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. Around 80 employees will be affected.
"By closing this location and investing in the nearby Baltimore facility, we will deliver on our promise to build a world-class, global manufacturing operations capability in service to all of our branded furniture products," the company said in a statement.
Kimball will close the facility within two weeks of June 15. Kimball acquired David Edward in 2018, a maker of contract furniture for the healthcare, education, and hospitality sectors. Kimball launched a strategic growth plan for the company in 2019.
Kimball says it offered jobs to the majority of its affected 80 employees - but at its Baltimore plant. "We hope they are willing to commute or relocate," the company said.
With sales of $768.1 million in 2019, the company runs 11 manufacturing plants around the continent. It currently employs 3,075 workers.
