With the staggering loss of revenue because of the COVID-19 forced postponement of NeoCon 2020, Contract Magazine this afternoon issued the following statement:
After 60 years, we are closing Contract magazine and its affiliated events and website. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our readers and advertisers, to those designers covered in our pages and online, and to our extraordinary team. Thank you to Karen Donaghy, Paul Makovsky, and the entire Contract staff for their dedication, commitment, and countless contributions to the industry.
As Contract covered workplace as well as many other facets of design, our roster of Emerald Design Group brands—Hospitality Design, Boutique Design, Healthcare Design, Environments for Aging, ICFF—will continue to address commercial design and blurred typologies. Additionally, the Contract Pavilion at ICFF will be reimagined with a focus on the future of workplace, and we look forward to sharing information as it becomes available.
Contract‘s last issue will be the July 2020 edition, and we will continue to publish content and our newsletters through September 1.
For more than half a century Contract has served as the voice of the commercial design market, covered the radically evolving workplace, featured thousands of stories, and honored the creative individuals and companies who make great design a reality every day.
On behalf of all of us, thank you for being part of Contract’s enduring legacy. We look forward to serving you through our other design magazines and events.
