MERCHANDISE MART'S 30-YEAR SHIFT FROM TRADE SHOWROOM TO TECH
The Merchandise Mart has a long, rich history (much of it associated with the Kennedy family), but one of its most colorful eras began in the past decade, when the 4M SF building became one of the most in-demand centers for Chicago’s exploding tech scene. Five Innovative office designs from Clerkenwell Design Week
Clerkenwell Design Week 2016: new research is driving a major rethink of office design, and interesting workplace interiors and furniture dominated this year's Clerkenwell Design Week. Office furniture is on the brink of a major overhaul, now the trend for "Googlefied" workspaces is on the wane. Alternative solutions started to present themselves at this year's Milan design week, but became even more visible at London's Clerkenwell Design Week, which ran from 24 to 26 May 2016.
5 things to see at Clerkenwell Design Week
Now in its seventh year, Clerkenwell Design Week is bigger than ever. A new exhibition venue means that this three-day architecture and design festival now has eight exhibition spaces, as well as showrooms, talks, and gateway installations.
Preview of Clerkenwell Design Week, London: what to look out for
Clerkenwell in central London has long been a creative industry enclave. Renowned for clock-making since the early 18th century, it is a place where other old-world trades, including printing, bookbinding and jewellery-making, still flourish. More than 200 architecture practices and 80-plus contemporary furniture showrooms are based in Clerkenwell — there is a higher density of creative businesses here than in any other part of London. This ensures that Clerkenwell Design Week, an annual event of exhibitions, workshops and talks, held this year from May 24 to 26, feels like part of the area and not something grafted on.

It’s Official: NeoCon is “Sold Out”
If you’ve not booked space for NeoCon at the Merchandise Mart, you are out of luck. No space is left to exhibit for the sold-out 2016 June show, according to show organizers. Blame it on a good economy, an increasingly strong show and perhaps most importantly, the reduced exhibition space at the Merchandise Mart. Merchandise Mart Properties Inc., which manages the building and runs NeoCon, decided last year it could close the eighth floor as a temporary showroom space for the event.
