WATCH: Casper Cloaking Technology: Privacy + Transparency

There’s a tension in many workplaces today. Organizations want transparent, collaborative environments. Leaders want to be visible stewards of their company culture. But, there are times when information just has to stay private. Large-scale monitor displays help teams work together. But, glass walled meeting rooms could display sensitive data to people passing nearby. Is the only solution to pull blinds and shut doors? We don’t think so.

Casper Cloaking Technology by Designtex solves this problem using architectural film for glass walls that only blocks people’s ability to see what’s on a digital screen inside the room. People walking by can see faces and gestures, but can’t see content displayed on any LED or LCD screen inside.

5 SUPER-FANCY DESK CHAIRS TO UPGRADE YOUR WORKDAY

5 SUPER-FANCY DESK CHAIRS TO UPGRADE YOUR WORKDAY

LET’S BE REAL: Unless you’re one of those kooks who uses a standing desk, you’re probably on your butt all day at work. Never mind all those reports that sitting down will ultimately kill you. I spend more time in my desk chair than I do in my bed, and chances are you do too.

So it’s important to have a high-quality desk chair—known in the industry as “task seating”—that feels comfortable and supportive, and can be adjusted to account for constant changes in the way you sit. A good chair adapts to you, not the other way around.

Generic C

Generic C

The hand of Philippe Starck is immediately recognizable in the design of Generic Chair, a new program of seating with a functional and simple design that represents the “generic ideotypes” of chairs designed for public spaces. Generic C – where C stands for ‘cafe’ – has been designed for bars, restaurants and leisure spaces: places where the function plays the most important role even before any form or possible aesthetic interpretation. Generic C is available in white, black, sage-green, rust, grey and yellow.

GMi Evolves

GMi Evolves

Deep in the research and development department of GMi is a rock you can use as a dry erase board. A bunch of fall leaves covered in a material that makes them dry erasable is also there. No, this company with a long history based in Lebanon, Ohio, is not marketing a “natural” collection of dry erase products. But it is pushing the outer limits to see what's possible when it comes to visual communication.

The company, founded as Ghent Manufacturing in 1976, is not afraid of taking chances, pushing what's possible and doing whatever it can to help its customers.

From Custom to Construction, OFGO Goes the Extra Mile

From Custom to Construction, OFGO Goes the Extra Mile

In 1980, the rock band Journey released the song “Anyway You Want It,” the same year Canadian office furniture maker OFGO was founded. Though the songwriters Steve Perry and Neal Schon did not consult the fledgling office furniture maker about the lyrics, the sentiment behind the song fits perfectly with OFGO's drive toward giving its customers the ability to customize their products — anyway they want it.

And that, perhaps more than anything, sets OFGO apart from the competition, though that's not all. The Toronto-area furniture maker embraces research and design, believes in building its own furniture in its own high-tech plant and wants to continue its evolution into a brand known throughout North America and beyond.
