Design Within Reach today announces the opening of its new retail Studio at NorthPark Center in Dallas. At nearly 13,500 square feet, the new space is three times the size of the previous temporary space the company occupied within the luxury shopping destination and looks to provide design enthusiasts with engaging, innovative pieces and client experiences from best-in-the-industry account executives.
Founded in 1998, Design Within Reach made modern design accessible to the U.S. market through its groundbreaking catalog and e-commerce site and has evolved into a destination for its exclusive collection of modern furniture and accessories.
"Dallas has a long history of being a leader in modern design and architecture," says DWR CEO John Edelman. "It's an incredible city, and I'm so excited that our beautiful new Studio gives design fans four times as much modern furniture than ever before."
DWR continues its partnership with New York-based architecture firm DFA to bring the Dallas Studio to life. Unique to this location is the "Park House," developed in consultation with celebrated Dallas-based firm Droese Raney Architecture. This expanded suite of graciously luxurious rooms uses native materials and architecture that draws on local traditions to evoke the setting of a modern North Texas home.
Additional features of the new Studio include:
- Thirty fully realized room vignettes integrate iconic classics of modern furniture with DWR's exclusive collections and the work of designers including Charles and Ray Eames, Norm Architects, Matthew Hilton and Jens Risom.
- Light Cloud: A hanging installation comprising hundreds of pendant lights glows overhead at the Studio entrance and leads customers inside to explore the space.
- Swatch Wall: A 30-foot-long material and color spectrum represented by hundreds of wall-mounted, upholstered tiles offers a glimpse of the more than 3,000 custom options available from Maharam, Knoll®, Edelman® Leather and Spinneybeck®, among others.
- Outdoor Collections: An expanded assortment of outdoor furniture featuring classic pieces and DWR exclusive outdoor collections.
- Displays of office solutions for home and business.
"The Nasher family has created a destination that brings together best-in-class retail and at its core is truly a cultural destination for art and architecture," says DWR President John McPhee. "NorthPark is a visionary shopping center, and we're proud to call it home."
