Sedia Systems and The Big Picture Machine Collaborate on Configurator and AR App to Debut at NeoCon

Sedia Systems and The Big Picture Machine are announcing the debut of a new configurator and an Augmented Reality app that will be on display during the 50th anniversary of NeoCon World’s Trade Fair June 11-13, 2018, in Sedia Systems’ showroom in The Mart.

The configurator, developed by The Big Picture Machine, digitally models all of Sedia Systems’ seating products, making it easy for specifiers and end users to visualize the design in the context of its proposed setting. The Augmented Reality app will permit the placement and movement of computer-generated 3D models of Sedia Systems’ products on a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. That technology will be demonstrated throughout the NeoCon gathering in Sedia Systems’ 11th floor showroom (11-121).

For The Big Picture Machine, a Chicago-based technology innovator, the Sedia Systems project is the latest in a series of contracts in the commercial interiors industry, streamlining the sales process and virtually eliminating the need for expensive and time-intensive mock-ups with actual products.

As a leading provider of auditorium and lecture hall fixed seating, Sedia Systems opted to partner with The Big Picture Machine after an exhaustive search for a new set of technology-enable sales and distribution tools.

“We needed a technology solution that seamlessly integrated into existing marketing assets while showcasing complex product configurations in a visually pleasing way,” said Wilson Troup, Founder and CEO of Sedia Systems, also based in Chicago. Troup also noted that the company was interested in using technology to reduce the cost and time involved in transporting furniture samples to prospective customers around the world.

Phil Hammer, CEO of The Big Picture Machine, said his company is built on a quarter-century of experience providing creative services to the furniture industry.

“We identified the market need for a technology platform that allowed for easy integration of engineering geometry, complex product logic, pricing lists and ultimately the ability to present to the public in a beautiful and elegant way", said Hammer.

In addition, The Big Picture Machine produced an Augmented Reality app experience that Sedia Systems’ representatives and distributors can present to clients and configure in all available options. Sedia Systems’ customers are able to view a configured model, placed in any environment, with the following interactivity: zoom, swivel and walk around as if the furniture were there in the space.

Sedia Systems anticipates the enhanced experience with technological tools will improve marketing and sales results for the fast-growing company with an expanding portfolio of fixed seating and other complementary products.
