One of the largest office furniture companies in the region has moved into its new location, and the Dayton Business Journal was given a first look.
Business Furniture recently relocated from its former location on North Main Street to the Avant-Garde building at 607 E. Third St. The company shares the downtown Dayton building with JJR Solutions and Tangram Flex, which relocated to the site earlier this year.
The 7,000-square-foot facility features training and conference rooms, a work cafe, a private "focus booth," four lounge settings, 18 work stations, and an "agile zone" for collaboration.
The 100-year-old building boasts exposed brick and original architectural features that date back to when the facility was a coffee bean business, then later a paper company.
"We love the fact that it is an old space with a lot of character and charm," Business Furniture CEO Mary Beth Oakes said. "It's a nice juxtaposition of vintage and new."
As you walk through the door, the entry sets the tone for the customer experience, Oakes said. Ancillary furniture provides space for initial conversations, and a live map guides the company's 15 employees as they select a place to do their work.
"The space inspires and motivates, which we needed for our team and all the clients we work with," she said.
The work cafe provides employees and clients with a place to socialize, and the training room supports large groups for internal meetings. Oakes said the adjacency of the training room and work cafe is also ideal for hosting events.
