Made in America Seating now Independent of 9to5 Seating

Made in America Seating, a Union City, Tennessee manufacturer, will continue operations as an independent, standalone business. The firm's parent company in California, 9to5 Seating, announced the spin-off in late November. Made in America Seating is a vertically-integrated manufacturer of office chairs and seating components that was established in 2013 and began production in 2015.

The Union City facility is highly automated. It was built to support three-shift operations. The Mir family, who founded and led the business previously, remain as owners. As an independent business Made in America Seating will continue supplying components to its former parent company, 9to5 Seating, based in Hawthorne, California.

"We intend to become a leading supplier of molded foam and plastic components, as well as both aluminum and tubular frame parts, to the North American office furniture industry," said Darius Mir, CEO. "We also expect to grow our private label chair production for wholesalers and retailers."

Mr. Mir explains it will be "business as usual" at Made in America Seating. As the founding CEO, he preserves the continuity of management and the firm's commitments to employees and the community. He added, "We will continue using state-of-the-art technology, utmost manufacturing efficiency, and industry-leading value."

Founded in 2013, Made in America Seating is a vertically-integrated manufacturer of molded foam and plastic components, and aluminum and tubular frame parts, for the North American furniture industry. Made in America Seating also makes private label seating for a range of customers. The firm utilizes state-of-the-art technology to design high-quality parts and manufacture them efficiently. Pricing for finished products competes with the import market. Made in America Seating's production facility and headquarters is in Union City, Tennessee. This location in the state's northwestern corner gives easy access to major furniture manufacturers and the distribution centers of its national retail customers.
