For NeoCon 2019 Coalesse will debut a collaboration with the Spanish rug company nanimarquina, who designed a comprehensive collection of hand-crafted rugs for Coalesse with exclusive global distribution. The nanimarquina Collection for Coalesse will include seven designs in various techniques including hand-tufted, hand-loomed dhurrie and outdoor rugs, which are expected to become available in late 2019.

“With an increase in open spaces and hard floor surfaces, rugs are becoming an increasingly important design element to help ground today’s work settings by forming natural boundaries while absorbing sound,” says Lew Epstein, General Manager for Coalesse. “The nanimarquina Collection for Coalesse will bring a greater sense of warmth, vitality and soul, as well as visual and physical comfort to the workplace.”

The collection is inspired by innovative patterns – some found in nature, others drawn or found in textile weaving. John Hamilton, Global Design Director for Coalesse, worked closely with nanimarquina to curate the color selections, which speak to the Coalesse color palette based on the natural environments — both landscape and seascape — and the famed, beautiful, softly colorful light in California.

“When we started discussing a collaboration with nanimarquina, our conversation was very much about their process married with ours, focusing on how we can complement each other really well,” says Hamilton. “For example, with variety and choice – this collection of rugs leverages our color palette, includes macro and micro pattern exploration and explores different weaving techniques and textures to create a diversity of options and differentiation in the visual aspects we can offer.”

Family-owned, nanimarquina is located in Barcelona, Spain and specializes in contemporary rug designs using traditional, hand-crafted techniques. Their team leads with a focus on design, craft and social impact. The handmade quality and exceptional techniques that they employ allow their rugs to be used in both indoor and outdoor locations.
