Knoll, Inc. returns to imm cologne 2020 with the Company's latest designs along with modern classics from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Eero Saarinen. Knoll is exhibiting at imm cologne, Germany’s international home and furnishings fair, from January 13 to 19.
The installation, designed by OMA, a Dutch-based architecture firm founded by Rem Koolhaas, honors the one hundredth anniversary of the Bauhaus. It explores the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a master of twentieth century architecture.
Divided into four spaces, each area of the pavilion replicates a different architectural masterpiece for which Mies designed unique furniture collections: the house in Krefeld (1927); the Weissenhof estate in Stuttgart (1927); the Barcelona Pavilion (1929); and the Tugendhat house (1930).
Visitors will experience a sequence of striking combinations of architecture and furniture, including designs by Mies van der Rohe, ranging from a Barcelona Couch in green leather to the recently introduced Barcelona Relaxed chair. Mies' designs are complemented by Saarinen's Pedestal Collection and the new Gould Sofa by Piero Lissoni.
To honor the brand’s historical ties to the Bauhaus, Knoll has created a commemorative, “Bauhaus Edition” of the Wassily Chair designed by Marcel Breuer, limited to 500 pieces. Each chair is certified and numbered.
The Knoll OMA pavilion is located at booth A04-C07.
