This adage certainly holds true at North Park University in Chicago, where a recent renovation didn't meet the changing need of the student body, thus requiring a redesign of the space once more. AGATI took a field trip to North Park University recently to interview some of the staff and students who witnessed the change from "Ottoman Empire" to "the Age of Enlightenment."

Kewaunee Scientific Reports Results for Second Quarter

Kewaunee Scientific Corporation (KEQU) today reported results for its second quarter ended October 31, 2015. Sales for the quarter were $31,037,000, a 2.6% increase from sales of $30,258,000 in the prior year. Domestic sales for the quarter were $26,279,000, up 11.2% from sales of $23,629,000 in the second quarter of last year. International sales for the quarter were $4,758,000, down 28.2% from sales of $6,629,000 in the second quarter last year.

Italian furniture company Arper opens a Manhattan showroom

Italian design brand Arper has opened a New Yorkshowroom, following in the footsteps of other European brands setting up shop in the US. Arper – founded in 1989 in Italy – debuted its Manhattan store on 19 November in Soho, at 476 Broadway, near showrooms for Luceplan, Foscarini, Ingo Maurer and other leading design brands.

I'm sitting in a private work pod right now. The day is a bit dreary here in Minnesota but I have a task lamp pointed toward my keyboard. It's helping my disposition a bit. I have my feet propped up on a small blue ottoman and I'm listening to the new album by Grimes. There's a thin plastic shield surrounding me that looks exactly like something out of Star Trek. The pod is called the Steelcase Brody, and it's a wonder of workplace engineering.

Herman Miller, Inc. Tuesday announced the opening of PortalMill, the global furniture manufacturer’s newest manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom. Located in Melksham, Wiltshire, the 170,000 sq.-ft. manufacturing and office space was designed by leading British architect Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, and signifies Herman Miller’s continued commitment to expanding the company’s global footprint.
