American Beverage Association Offices – Washington D.C.

Photography: Chris Spielman

FOX Architects have designed new offices for the American Beverage Association, located in Washington D.C.

Having been in their original space for 40 years, American Beverage Association wanted a new space that reflected their iconic industry. Their former office consisted of smaller floor plates across multiple floors, with no conference areas to host events. This forced them to rent out hotel space, missing the opportunity to champion their culture.

The design team generated a parti-diagram along the ceiling plane which connected the space through color-changing LED lighting. Common materials used in the beverage industry were used as inspiration for their new space. The lifecycle of bottles and glass is captured in the elevator lobby with a lighted “bubble effect” made of recycled materials. As you step into the reception area, you are greeted by a colorful, lighted display of beverage container silhouettes. The café features a bottle cap backsplash and pendant lights made out of beverage containers.
